THE STUDIO
Draw studio is a service design platform led by Sara and Joe, delivering concept-led, multidisciplinary design solutions across scales; from product to interiors, architecture, and master planning. Our mission is to create a better everyday life for people in their spaces and the environment. When a space evokes a positive response, we know we’ve achieved our goal.
Draw applies a consistent design rigour, whether working on a single custom piece of furniture or a complex hospitality fit-out, and the practice places particular focus on the selection and custom design of FF&E and decorative lighting to give interiors a distinct identity and tactile quality.

The studio’s work spans private residences, boutique hotels, showrooms and educational master plans, and its portfolio demonstrates a wide range of typologies and scales. Concept development is central to the studio’s process, with early design thinking shaping material choices, bespoke furnishings and lighting strategies that respond to context and user needs.
Draw’s collaborative platform model enables multidisciplinary teams to be assembled for each project, ensuring that technical, fabrication and aesthetic considerations are integrated from the outset. This approach reduces friction during construction and helps preserve design intent through to handover.
Draw’s practice is informed by international experience and local engagement. The studio operates from Malta while maintaining a global outlook, drawing on the founders’ experience working on projects in London, Barcelona and beyond. The studio values sustainability and restorative approaches, using digital tools and fabrication techniques to explore efficient, resilient solutions.
Attention to craft and materiality is balanced with an interest in innovation, allowing draw to deliver work that is both grounded and forward looking. Clients benefit from a holistic, concept-led approach spanning master planning, architecture, interiors, and product design. From initial idea through to detailed design and on-site coordination, the process is guided by a commitment to enhancing everyday life through thoughtful design.

FEATURED PROJECTS
THE TEAM
Sara and Joe co‑founded draw studio, united by a passion for detail and inspiring work. Sara brings 20 years of hospitality-focused interior design (Richmond Design; projects from London to Barbados), specialising in FF&E and decorative lighting, and returned to Malta to build a multidisciplinary practice collaborating with architects, fabricators and designers on projects from product design to large-scale hospitality schemes.
Sara’s projects show a vibrant sensibility and a clear understanding that well‑considered design can enrich daily life, informing everything from intimate product pieces to expansive hospitality environments.
"At draw studio our team is more than a group of designers; we believe bringing out the best in each other is as important as bringing out the best in our designs, and that collective spirit shapes the spaces we create."
Joe is a warranted architect and civil engineer with a Master’s degree in self-sufficient buildings and digital fabrication from IaaC Barcelona. His practice spans digital fabrication, robotics, furniture, architecture and master planning, and he brings a strong environmental and restorative focus to his work. Joe has worked with internationally recognised architecture and consultancy firms and has been involved with fabrication labs and start-up initiatives, including co-founding FabLab Valletta.
His combined skills in design, fabrication and construction, together with experience in business development and consultation, give draw a technical and strategic edge. Joe’s approach is holistic and investigative, applying digital tools to explore sustainable solutions and to inform construction methods.

Together, Sara and Joe bring a balance of expertise shaped by their unique paths and shared heritage. Growing up surrounded by craftsmanship and beautiful furniture, they developed an innate understanding of quality and detail. Sara’s hospitality-focused interior sensibility and Joe’s technical mastery and fabrication know-how combine to create projects that are both striking and resilient, thoughtfully responding to the people who inhabit them and the context in which they exist.
