Sliema’s well-known Christine X Art Gallery will be launching an exhibition in June that marks two separate yet significant occasions: the start of the summer season, and the gallery’s 20th anniversary.
Titled Summer Lovin’, the collective exhibition, curated by founder Christine Xuereb Seidu, is described as a celebration of creativity and “a vibrant showcase that celebrates the beauty and vitality of summer through the lens of art and photography.”
Featured works are intended to evoke warmth, joy and nostalgia synonymous with this time of year from upcoming and established artists and photographers.
“’Summer Lovin’ is a celebration of creativity inspired by the spirit of summer. From sun-drenched landscapes to intimate portraits, each piece offers a unique perspective on the essence of the season,” the gallery shared.
“Whether through bold brushstrokes, intricate details, or striking compositions, each artwork tells a story, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and find moments of resonance within their own experiences of summer.”
Featured artists include Mariam Mifsud De Giorgio, whose acrylic paintings harness the magic of ordinary and spontaneous moments, such as that of a group of children at the beach warming their hands around a fire; or the photographs of Sarah Scicluna, who captures nostalgic and intimate portraits of friends and strangers in candid film shots.
The work of Jessica Demers, Susannah Farrugia, Charlene Galea, Stephen Micallef, Flixkun, Thomas Scerri, Naomi Smith, Stefania Farrugia and artists who are represented by the gallery, namely Olaug Vethal, Lina Rincon, Jacob Sammut and Elena Degenhardt will also be on display.
The exhibition will open its doors on 20th June at Christine X Art Gallery in Sliema. Admission is free and open Monday to Friday 10am-1pm and 4-7pm, and Saturday 10am-1pm.
