With its restrained colour palette and minimalist interiors, The Londoner Hotel in Sliema is a sleek and modern addition to the town’s hospitality landscape. And yet, the sea and coastal views visible from its hotel rooms positioned on The Strand give this urban hotel a familiar, Mediterranean feel.
For The Londoner’s interiors, multi-disciplinary studio DAAA Haus turned to the hotel’s very own name for inspiration, describing it as “a place with a narrative of the soul of the city of London. The interior design is a blend between the timelessness of tradition and the vibrant pulse of modernity, creating a space that is at once elegant and contemporary.”
From the rooms to the neighbouring restaurant, the common spaces and the hotel halls, The Londoner exudes its city-inspired persona at every turn.
Inside each of the 51 rooms, two-tone painted walls create “a canvas that tells the story of contrasts and unity; echoing the dynamic nature of London itself. The wall panelling adds a touch of sophistication, a nod to the city’s rich history, while serving as a backdrop for the unfolding drama of the modern era.”
Tan leather headboards stand out against the crisp wall panelling, “reminiscent of well-worn leather-bound books and the craftsmanship that defines the city.”
Traditional elements intertwine with an overarching modern look, seen most evidently in the raw and exposed concrete ceilings and surfaces that symbolise London’s urban landscape. “This juxtaposition captures the essence of London; a city that holds its story close, even as it strides confidently into the future,” the studio explains.

This element of contrast is heightened further through the introduction of black details, visible in the lighting fixtures, bathroom hardware, furniture and wall frames. DAAA Haus explains this design choice draws connections to the city’s iconic black cabs and sleek architecture, punctuating the design and grounding it in the contemporary urban reality.
“And then, there is the British racing green velvet fabric which is an opulent touch that pays homage to London’s cultural refinement and its lush parks. Together, these elements form a symphony that resonates with the essence of London.”
From upholstered seating in soft shades of grey to neutral-coloured bathrooms, this hotel has warmth and comfort at its core, fortified by bold interior choices that seek to capture the city’s dual identity through its design.
“It is a place where history and modernity dance in harmony, where tradition and innovation intersect. The Londoner Hotel is not just a place to stay; it is an experience, a microcosm of the city of London in the Mediterranean.”
