“Each moment spent in one of our tea rooms should be the perfect balance of visual and gustatory pleasure – what we at Ladurée call ‘the taste of times gone by’.” This is the motto every Ladurée store lives by, including the latest one to open in none other than Pjazza Tigne in Sliema.
Following months of anticipation, the Parisian tea room franchise, which was founded in 1862 with its first salon on the rue Royale in Paris, France, launched its first shop in Malta this week, in the same chic aesthetic that the establishment has come to be known by.
From the densely-veined marble floors to the ornate ceiling – and everything in between – the interiors of Ladurée invite guests into a sophisticated and stylish world that remains rooted in classic French savoir faire, or as the brand puts it, “with a timeless elegance far removed from the passing fads of contemporary fashion.”
Led by Clayton Falzon, designer and project manager at DPM by Sean Arrigo, Ladurée’s design prioritises a palette of soft green and gold, coupled with patterned walls, mirrored surfaces, upholstered seating, glass chandeliers and vitrines displaying their popular confections.
“From concept to completion – thrilled to have led alongside my colleague Rebekah Borg the project management for Ladurée’s stunning first new shop in Malta!” he wrote.
On social media, Ladurée observed “October 16th marked our first day of serving all the Ladurée enthusiasts, and we couldn’t be happier to share the experience with you. Indulge in our world-famous macarons, exquisite pastries, and Parisian elegance, right here in Malta.”
