Named after one of Malta’s most prolific architects with a legacy of historic, 19th-century buildings to his name, the Premju Emanuale Luigi Galizia Awards, an industry awards programme organised by Kamra tal-Periti, are back with renewed enthusiasm after a five-year hiatus.
The first edition, which was launched in 2018, sought to encourage and promote excellence and quality design in Malta’s built environment, offering practitioners in architecture, structural and civil engineering, interior design and product design an opportunity to promote and showcase their work.
“Kamra tal-Periti is proud to be ushering in a new and redesigned edition of Premju Emanuele Luigi Galizia, one which will celebrate and recognise our profession in all its facets – from architecture to civil engineering; from interior and urban design to the conservation of built heritage,” the Chamber shared.
The programme, which is also an opportunity for professionals in the field to have their work reviewed by a panel of experts, is split into three categories: core, special and role model categories, as well as the highest honour of the President’s Award for the best overall project.
New awards have been added to each category, such as the Climate Action award that celebrates projects prioritising sustainability and environmental responsibility, and the Architecture Leadership award which celebrates individuals, firms, or institutions who exemplify leadership and advocate for the architectural community in Malta.
The revamped website is currently open for applications and nominations, which can be submitted until 27 September.
