Home is Where the Heart is – Kenneth Zammit Tabona & Mariam de Giorgio
Kenneth Zammit Tabona and Maria de Giorgio return to the Palm Court at the Phoenicia Malta, where they’ve both held solo exhibitions this year, for a joint display of their detailed and nostalgia-fuelled artworks, executed in watercolour and ink and acrylic respectively. The exhibition, curated by Prof Charlene Vella, celebrates the warmth of Maltese homes, heritage, family, friendships and pets, as well as Christmas traditions that strike a nostalgic chord. 7th December-1st January.
The Search for Happiness – Jan Pfeiffer
Czech artist Jan Pfeiffer and curator Lenka Sýkorová explore the search for happiness as a “seemingly simple metaphor conceived as a physical spatial experience within the gallery” at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta. In this multi-media exhibition, the quest for happiness and fulfilment is likened to an endless journey with its ups and downs, while also exploring the concept of anticipated future events and the struggle to avoid being dominated by visions of the future. Until 12th January.
Echoes of the Earth – Sylvana Magro
Ceramic artist Sylvana Magro is hosting her first solo ceramic exhibition, Echoes of the Earth, at Art by the Seaside Gallery in Senglea. The collection explores themes of nature, texture and form, a testament to the raw beauty of nature, “capturing the fluidity of the sea’s waves, the rugged textures of landscapes and the dynamic energy of volcanic eruptions.” 6th-20th December.
Body & Vessel – Rebecca Bonaci & Thiss Clay
Body & Vessel, a joint exhibition by tattoo and visual artist Rebecca Bonaci and Thiss Clay studio at the Malta Society of Arts, is a celebration of Rebecca’s 10th anniversary as a tattoo artist through a showcase of ceramic pieces that demonstrate her artistic evolution. “This exhibition aims to merge the rich traditions of tattooing with the tactile and visual dimensions of ceramics, creating a dialogue between these two mediums. Visitors will be encouraged to navigate the space, reflecting on their own perceptions of beauty, permanence, and the stories these works convey.” 7th-18th December.
The Maltese Art Collection – Collective exhibition
Illy Caffe in Valletta has brought together three local artists, Moira Zahra, Henry Falzon and Rebecca Bonaci to explore the vibrant spirit of Malta through their unique perspective, which will culminate in an exhibition titled The Maltese Art Collection. “From the timeless beauty of Malta’s landscapes to the warmth of its pjazza culture, this collaboration bridges art and coffee, honouring the island’s heritage with every stroke and sip.” From 12th December.
But I see Beauty and Wonder – Collective exhibition
The central theme of this ongoing exhibition at Spazju Kreattiv is the notion that beauty and ugliness are subjective and shaped by individual perspectives. It explores the “transformative power of art, highlighting its ability to uncover beauty in unexpected places and reveal charm in what may initially seem ugly or unpleasant.” The participating artists, hailing from Malta, Iran, India and Italy among other nationalities, embarked on an individual creative journey exploring these themes, resulting in a diverse display that is “rich with possibilities.” Until 5th January.
