For the most part, a faucet – or water tap – is a purely functional object that delivers water wherever it is needed. For Rubinetterie Fratelli Frattini, a business established in 1958 and available at Banju Boutique for over 45 years, a faucet is so much more.
As a brand dedicated to the design and creation of faucets that aim to reduce water consumption, Frattini is immersed in conceiving products that are made with dedication and craftmanship, that merge Italian tradition with environmentally-conscious design, and offer solutions that enhance spaces and improve everyday life, without compromising on the aesthetic of this essential product.
“Beauty resides in the details. And in the details, you find innovation and functionality,” the brand states, which is home to a range of collections, each aimed at enhancing the environment it occupies. The Contemporary Collection, for instance, which also includes a range of outdoor shower columns, strikes a balance between modern minimalism and the pure elegance of the faucet.
The Inox Collection, defined by its use of stainless-steel, embodies the durability of steel with refined design – one of its stars, the single lever basin mixer Aline (more below), was awarded the 2023 iF Design Award in Berlin, standing out for its detail and commitment to sustainability – while the Traditional Collection is a tribute to the elegance and charm of classic Italian design. Here’s a closer look at some of Frattini’s top designs for bathroom faucets.
Borgia
The popularity of minimalist shapes in stainless steel is a legacy from the past, rooted in the designs of the great Danish architect Arne Jacobsen, who revolutionised the history of sanitary fittings in the late 1960s. Borgia, a faucet made of the AISI 316L alloy, is a product line of the Inox collection born out of the creativity of Guido Bellucci and Francesco Mazzoni. The bathroom series is completed by bath taps – both wall, floor and rim-mounted with or without spout – together with 2-way and 3-way shower fittings, available either as separate elements or combined in a single plate.
Aline
Architect and designer Marco Piva chose stainless steel AISI 316L for the new tapware collection designed for Fratelli Frattini. The award-winning Aline is a unique object, a synthesis of function and form – it has a slender cylindrical body rising from a thin, light square base. Its handle, with no cuts on the back, is an alternating prism of full-height triangles, which expresses a refined and rigorous geometry. Its streamlined spout is flat and, thanks to state-of-the-art welds, features an ultra-thin waterspout with a swivelling jet. The tap is made of satin-finished stainless steel and is suitable for any wellness space – from a luxurious private bathroom to an exclusive spa.
Narciso
Narciso and Narciso S, single lever mixers designed by Paolo Bertarelli, are an ode to modularity, offering a range of combinations of materials and finishes: two different types of handles, 26 items in each collection, eight finishes and 11 colour tones. This line is characterised by an original hi-tech profile, based on an elegant balance of shapes and spaces, marked by clear geometries. The Narciso series features a polished and shiny chrome lever that guides the opening and closing of the water, embellished with the elegant graphic sign of the signature, while Narciso S features a lightweight and ergonomic handle that is modern and minimalist.
