Architects Sandro and Peter Valentino, who co-founded architecture firm Valentino Architects in 2015, have both been selected to join judging panels for two prestigious international events on the architectural calendar.
Last month, Sandro Valentino formed part of a three-person judging panel for the 2023 edition of the Architectural Review’s long-standing award series, titled New into Old.
Launched in 2017, the awards “recognise the imaginative appropriation of existing structures, from innovative insertions to ambitious adaptations, offering buildings a new lease of life.”
Alongside Lu Wenyu, co-founder of Amateur Architecture Studio in China, and Mohamadreza Ghodousi, founder of ZAV Architects in Iran, Sandro was tasked with reviewing over 100 submissions. The winners and shortlist will be published in The Architectural Review.

Later this year, Peter Valentino will form part of the jury of INSIDE Festival, a three-day long event showcasing architectural and interior design projects from around the globe, to be held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
It runs alongside the World Architecture Festival, which together make up the largest global live awards event for architects and designers, who must make a case for their projects in ten minutes to a panel of judges.
Last year, Valentino Architects’ very own La Serenissima – a retrofit project that re-imagined the studio of 20th century artist, Frank Portelli, into a modern home for his granddaughter – won the overall award for Interior Apartment at the INSIDE Festival in Lisbon, Portugal.
