Nestled along a tranquil street in the capital is a low-key fashion outlet that, for the past year, has been quietly shining a light on vintage fashion as an alternative to fast fashion, with an emphasis on quality and purpose – attracting a discerning audience in the process with an appreciation for characterful clothing and good design.
Founded by Maltese-French creative Laura Besançon, the shop – which marks its first year this month since opening its doors – “offers a carefully curated selection of garments that stand out for their material quality, intricate details, and timelessness – qualities often missing in today’s fast-paced fashion landscape.”
Each vintage piece is handpicked by Laura with a clear intention to bring it into the contemporary world. “We’re not about head-to-toe nostalgia,” she says. “The aim is to offer a modern experience in vintage fashion – where every item has been chosen for its uniqueness.”
Located near fast fashion outlets, the brand seeks to present a meaningful alternative: “garments that outlast fleeting trends, reduce waste, and add lasting value to people’s lives. For those unfamiliar with Vintage, the shop’s warm, curated atmosphere makes it easy to discover clothing that’s as individual as the people who wear it.”
Beyond offering distinct finds, The Vintage Collection is part of a growing movement for change – one that encourages conscious consumption, values craftsmanship, and brings forgotten pieces back into circulation. “It’s a labour of love,” says Laura. “I want this shop to inspire a shift towards sustainability, towards connection, and towards a more thoughtful way of dressing.”
To mark its first anniversary, The Vintage Collection invites the public to visit the shop on Saturday 26th April and celebrate a year of vintage done differently.
