Acro Suites, Greece
Located on a clifftop in Crete, the Acro Suites wellness resort was adapted to blend with its surroundings, executed in a way that promoted the site’s raw and natural design. Perched along the cliff are 45 suites, four villas, a wellness centre, terraced bar and restaurant, built with local stone and timber and finished in earthy tones, appearing as if emerging from the rugged rock.
Pa.te.os resort, Portugal
Portuguese architect Manuel Aires Mateus created a haven-like retreat in the village of Melides in Portugal, with a hilltop resort comprised of four houses that blend into the landscape. The design of Pa.te.os emphasises a cohesion with nature with an overlapping interior and exterior, and a warm palette predominantly made of sand, pearl or caramel, reminiscent of Earth’s resources.
The Dorchester, UK
Fresh from a transformative renovation is the iconic The Dorchester in London’s Mayfair district, which was overhauled by Pierre-Yves Rochon – who also worked on The Savoy in Paris – and Martin Brudnizki. The hotel’s opulent interiors feature Art Deco glitz, pastel upholstery, a nod to the James Bond film series, and the original Liberace mirrored piano, restored for the hotel’s resident pianist.

With a slew of upscale accommodation options spread across Sub-Saharan Africa, hotel group &Beyond’s Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge, located in a remote part of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, combines safari highlights with understated luxury. The lodge is composed of 10 tented suites, decorated with earthy tones, vibrant prints and raw materials that are a reminder of its far-flung location.

A relative newcomer to the city of Vienna, Rosewood combines imperial glamour with contemporary taste, where furniture upholstered in archival fabrics are placed next to contemporary coffee tables. Among its many highlights is the hotel’s main restaurant located on the top floor, infused with orb lights, mid-century modern furniture and a bucolic terrace with an impressive view.
Nobu Hotel, Morocco
In the hotel group’s first landing on the African continent, Nobu Marrakech combines its trademark Japanese aesthetic with elements that are a reflection of its environs. Surrounding the towering Bonsai tree that rises through the entrance are details and furnishings that pay homage to traditional Moroccan architecture – including deep wine and aubergine tones, rustic tiles and dark wooden furniture with ornate patterns.
