The anticipated bi-annual trade show for all things interiors, décor and design, Maison&Objet, is gearing up for its winter edition next January, to be held in Paris. And, to commemorate its 30th anniversary, the fair has designated a theme for the event that “will show its participants a revitalised future that combines technology and nature.”
Titled Tech Eden, devised in collaboration with trend forecasting agency Peclers Paris, the theme explores how sustainability and protecting the planet can co-exist with innovation and design.
Maison&Objet explains that Tech Eden is “a tiny phrase to illustrate a massive trend that is already filtering through into the objects and spaces around us.”
“Immersive and virtual solutions may still be very much in the realms of experimentation, but a creative and eclectic design repertoire that resolutely embraces the natural world is gradually addressing modern-day expectations,” it states.
“This January, visitors will be invited to rethink spatial design and layout, augmented by technological innovation, through immersive experiences that seek to bring poetry to the notion of progress.”
Modular furnishings with futuristic silhouettes, products made from upcycled or recycled sources and sensorial materials – such as a marine terrazzo developed from shell waste by French brand Ostrea – are just a hint of what to expect, where around 700 new brands are expected to debut, “ensuring the entire showcase represents the latest trends.”
The fair encompasses 14 sections that span a whole gamut of lifestyle products, from decorations and fine art to home accessories and interior design. It will take place from 18 to 22 January 2024 at Paris-Nord Villepinte Parc des Expositions.
