A creative collaboration between British tailor and menswear designer, Ozwald Boateng, and Italian furniture brand Poltrona Frau centres on a celebration of African aesthetics, British tailoring and Italian craftmanship.
This partnership marks the Savile Row-trained tailor’s first foray into furniture design, along with a range of fabrics, wallpapers and accessories for the Italian brand.
Renowned for integrating his Ghanaian heritage into his menswear designs through African Kente patterns, Ozwald took a similar approach for this interiors collection, with the aim of “creating a dialogue which harnesses my exploration of African patterns, and Poltrona Frau’s heritage of Italian design excellence,” he told HypeBeast.
Vivid colours take centre stage, embodying the energy of African culture. Texture and pattern are enhanced through hand-embossing techniques that give the fabrics a three-dimensional effect.

The collaboration comprises two seating options – a Chester-style armchair, which Poltrona Frau describes as “a timeless symbol of Edwardian style and an icon of design”, and the Vanity Fair armchair with a tribal pattern in a variety of rich colours.
Also forming part of the Ozwald Boateng x Poltrona Frau collection are wool rugs, tribal pillows and wallpapers designed with the Kente motif.
