Light is one of the most powerful tools in design. Far for being merely a practical product for illumination, it also serves to define boundaries, reveal textures, and create atmosphere within spaces.
Since 1989, Belgian brand Deltalight has been shaping the future of architectural lighting, blending aesthetics with functionality. Guided by the idea that lighting should complete architecture’s sentences, the brand acts as a creative partner to architects rather than merely a supplier.
Recently inaugurated at the ESS showroom located within the Central Business District is a new, interactive Deltalight display room that embodies these principles – a space designed to show not just lighting products, but the art of lighting itself.
With its immersive environment and deliberately minimalist design, visitors are invited to see, feel, and experiment with light in a realistic setting. Architects, designers, and clients can walk through a curated experience where light interacts with materials and spatial elements in real time, rather than view fixtures on static stands.
A hands-on concept
“The display demonstrates how lighting can completely transform a room, from subtle, ambient washes that highlight architectural depth to precise, directional accents that draw attention to textures and design details,” the ESS team notes.
Visitors can explore how tone, intensity, and beam angle influence perception and mood, making the room a true learning environment for understanding light’s impact on architecture.
“This hands-on concept showcases Deltalight’s commitment to innovation and ESS’ dedication to helping professionals make informed, inspired choices. Our team is on hand to guide visitors through the display, explaining how each luminaire works, what effects can be achieved, and how different combinations can be applied in residential, commercial, and hospitality settings,” the team adds.
“The result is an engaging, sensory experience that reveals how thoughtful lighting design can elevate a project from functional to exceptional.”
Lighting as art
To mark the launch of this brand, ESS hosted an event that welcomed architects and designers to explore the display while experiencing one of the brand’s most versatile systems, the Superloop, in a unique artistic form.
In collaboration with Deltalight, Spanish artist Carlos Alvarez Las Heras transformed the Superloop into a creative canvas, fusing light and art in a striking installation that exemplifies Deltalight’s philosophy: that light is not only functional but expressive — capable of shaping spaces, emotions, and experiences.
Illuminating the future
This collaboration highlights both Deltalight’s commitment to innovation and ESS’ dedication to providing professionals with cutting-edge lighting solutions.
“For architects and designers in Malta, Deltalight remains a standout choice thanks to its balance of design innovation and technical mastery. Its fixtures are deliberately minimal, allowing light itself to take centre stage,” says ESS.
“The systems are flexible, adaptable, and thoughtfully engineered, integrating seamlessly across interiors, façades, ceilings, and outdoor spaces. Each product is developed with people in mind, balancing efficiency, comfort, and visual quality, ensuring that spaces are not only beautifully lit but also meaningfully enhanced.”
