The latest hotel by Corinthia Group to open its doors – and its first in North America – The Surrey in New York, received a top honour at the Ultimate Luxury Travel Related Awards (ULTRAs), a prestigious industry event for travel and hospitality held at the royal estate, Kensington Palace, in London.
The Surrey, A Corinthia Hotel was awarded Best New Hotel Opening of 2024, one which managing director Pradeep Raman describes as an incredible honour and distinctive title.
“This opening has been a true labour of love for all involved, which makes this recognition from such an esteemed body even more meaningful. The opening of The Surrey has been a landmark moment for the Corinthia brand and is a symbol of the growth and evolution still to come,” he shared.
The Surrey opened its doors in October on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, bringing Corinthia’s signature sophistication that “has resonated with both international tastemakers and New Yorkers alike. This prestigious accolade was voted by 28 million Global Hotel Alliance members, underscoring the global impact of our newest hotel opening,” Corinthia Hotels shared.
Housed within a historical building owned by real estate moguls the Reuben Brothers, the 16-storey hotel has been transformed to include 70 guest rooms, 30 suites, and 14 private residences, with striking interiors by the famed Martin Brudnizki of Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (MBDS).
Its interiors combine a residential feel with details that pay tribute to New York, such as handcrafted Murano chandeliers and bespoke furniture pieces. Textures throughout the hotel abound, seen in wall finishes, cabinetry, upholstered furniture and floor rugs.
