With a reach of almost 10 million followers on Instagram alone, baker, food photographer and recipe developer Betül Tunç from Turkuaz Kitchen has amassed a legion of fans who have grown to appreciate her ‘slow cooking’ videos, where every step of the cooking process is executed by hand or using hand-powered tools, prepared with traditional methods and techniques that celebrate her heritage.
Her latest collaboration is a reflection of her lifestyle and approach to cooking, created with fashion and homeware brand Anthropologie. It also infuses classic kitchenware with a charming aesthetic that embraces her Turkish roots.
“I’m beyond thrilled to announce my exclusive product line with Anthropologie, a big dream of mine coming true. Anthropologie was the perfect partner to bring my vision to life,” she wrote on social media. “Each piece is created with my personal touch, inspired by my kitchen, my cultural heritage, and the aesthetic you’ve come to love in my videos.”
The collection, comprised of 22 pieces, blends vintage charm and Turkish Iznik patterns with modern-day finishes. A range of homeware, from tea cup and saucer sets to plates, a serving bowl and a cake stand, are available alongside a number of handy kitchen utensils and accessories, including a whisk, rolling pin and spoon rest, and aromatic candles for the home.
Betül shared with The Spruce how the design aesthetic of this collection is aimed at encouraging people to prepare colourful and cosy tables, and to seek comfort in cooking.
“From vibrant colours that remind me of the spices and flavours I grew up with, to intricate patterns and motifs that reflect the traditional art and craftsmanship of my culture, every design element in the collection has a special place in my heart,” she shared.
