Din l-Art Ħelwa has launched a collection of Malta Post stamps featuring its restored sites, photographed by Daniel Cilia over the years as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations.
The images are on display at the Malta Postal Museum in Valletta, honouring the photographer’s commitment to heritage and the environment while celebrating the NGO’s own tireless work since its founding 60 years ago.
The stamp collection features stunning scenic shots taken around Malta and Gozo that include sites of historical and national value that were saved and preserved by Din l-Art Ħelwa, including the Delimara lighthouse shot against a dramatic moon, a gardjola captured during a beautiful sunset, and a panoramic shot of Dwejra tower.
The Trust’s executive president, Patrick Calleja, defined the milestone anniversary as a “great achievement for a voluntary organisation,” noting that it was an early pioneer of Malta’s conservation movement responsible for the restoration of around 60 monuments and works of art.
“None of those sites would still be standing had the organisation not taken the initiative to salvage them from neglect,” he added, while thanking Daniel for eternalising Malta’s beauty through his photography.
The exhibition is open until 23rd July at the Malta Postal Museum and Art Hub at 135, Archbishop Street, Valletta.
