Lifestyle brand MADUMA, whose concept is inspired by the patterns of traditional Maltese tiles, has marked a new milestone in its entrepreneurial journey: a flagship store in Swieqi which will serve as a dedicated space for the brand’s broad range of home and fashion products.
Founder Kimberly Micallef shared “After many milestones, ups and down, blood, sweat and tears, MADUMA® finally has a flagship store where you can find the whole range of our products. The constant support you showed me through the years led to making this dream come true.”
Launched in 2017, the brand began with a fashion collection of organic cotton t-shirts imprinted with tile motifs. It went on to launch a stationery collection, which includes a range of journals, paper sets, planners and postcards featuring distinctive and vibrant patterns typical of the traditional square tiles that are intrinsically associated with old Maltese houses.
MADUMA continued to expand its product range to homeware products – such as aprons, table runners and coasters – and lifestyle goods, including beach towels, tote bags and purses.
In pursuing this brand, which came to be after Kimberly completed her media and design studies at MCAST, the founder sought to promote the dying trade of Maltese tiles by combining two things she loves: fashion and tiles, done in a sustainable way through the use of organic fabrics and recycled materials.
The store can be found at Balanced Lifestore, Triq il-Mizura, Swieqi.
