Eight-year-old artist Alf Bärbel Wit has garnered a following for his energetic line drawings that reflect a sense of freedom, curiosity and imagination as seen through the eyes of a child.
His artworks have decorated the walls of several cities around the world, and now, can be brought inside the home in the form of a carpet created by Dutch furniture brand Moooi Carpets, a specialised sister brand of Moooi.
The pair of carpets, called LinesLinesLines, “create a meditative vibe with intricate details. Alf’s art transforms your space into a realm of endless discovery.”
“We instantly loved the energy of Alf’s unusual talent and his colourful line art. For us there are no boundaries in creativity nor in age of a talented young designer,” says Moooi.
Available in round or rectangular variants, the patterns are a result of Alf’s intuitive drawings, often created without a real beginning or end and produced with mixed media, including acrylic paint, pens and thick markers.
“It’s so funny that people will walk on my art. But I especially love that my work has become soft and hairy, and I can pet it like a cat!” he said through an Instagram page dedicated to his work. “Thank you @moooicarpets @moooi for celebrating that imagination knows no bounds and uniqueness is not limited to someone’s status, experience, or age.”
This isn’t the first time Alf’s art has made headlines – he illustrated the cover of fashion magazine Monument, and gave a drawing workshop to 150 employees at tech company WeTransfer.
