Swedish design studio Crème Atelier blends elegance with playfulness for the design of their whimsical lamp, Soft Serve, that comes with “soft swirly shapes”, “warm magical light” and a “soufflé-like aesthetic.”
The studio, co-founded by Jacqueline Kessidis and Lucas Lind, came to life through their combined love for design. “While renovating our home, the idea of truly creating something together was born – we decided to craft a lamp without compromising on sustainability. This was the start of our journey.”
Sustainability is a central pillar for the brand, from the sourcing of its materials to the production process. It utilises biologically produced plastic derived from corn starch and recycled food packaging for the fabrication of each lamp, which is manufactured and packaged in Stockholm.
Soft Serve, which is 3D printed and created through a gradual layering of the material, is produced in various iterations. The pendant version, which may be hung alone or in a cluster and is available in three sizes, inspires the illusion of floating clouds as well as ice-cream swirls, as does the set of four ornaments which make for pretty festive baubles.
The table lamp, which combine a weightless top on a cylindrical base reminiscent of soft-serve ice-cream cones, is available in an array of colours and combinations, from vanilla bean or matcha to wild strawberry, rhubarb and mocha. The lamps are available in two sizes and come with a dimmable feature.
