Colour experts at Dulux have translated global trends into a Colour of the Year that is warm, soft and that “captures the mood of the moment”.
The soft pink, named Sweet Embrace, is a delicate and flexible colour that oozes positivity and calm within a space. It is also described as a transformative colour that alters with light, shifting from a blush in bright morning light to a warm violet in the evening.
Marianne Shillingford, creative director and colour expert at Dulux, says while Sweet Embrace is a beautiful standalone colour, “it’s a hue that perfectly combines with so many other shades making it a cheerleader in colour form.”
“It’s the perfect modern neutral that you can use with confidence, knowing it will unite each element from furnishings to artwork whilst creating a gently uplifting atmosphere.”

Now in its 21st year, Dulux’s Colour of the Year programme is led by colour experts and design professionals who conduct extensive research on current trends and moods for each of its annual forecasts.
Sweet Embrace stood out for its soothing quality – the brand’s response to a widespread need for clarity and joy.
“Like a whisper of reassurance in a moment of stress, [Sweet Embrace] has a visual softness that calms the senses and creates an atmosphere of serenity,” says the colour expert.
