With summer in full swing – and still quite a way to go – the time is right to spruce up your pool deck or garden with outdoor furniture that is sturdy, comfortable and easy on the eyes. DesignDispatch has rounded up some favourites.
Week-end by Petite Friture
Designed by Studio BrichetZiegler, made up of design duo Caroline Ziegler and Pierre Brichet, the Week-end collection for French furniture brand Petite Friture possesses fresh, acidic tones and a graphic design to complete an outdoor space. The set includes tables, chairs, armchairs, stools, benches, sofas and sideboards in eight colours, and you can customise a combination to suit your style. The collection, which is finished with a matte epoxy paint, is designed with quick and easy installation in mind.
Palinfrasca by Molteni&C
Italian brand Molteni&C’s debut outdoor furniture collection was “inspired by modernism” says the brand’s Creative Director, Belgian architect and designer, Vincent Van Duysen. Included in the collection is the Palinfrasca armchair, which recalls a motif created by Molteni designer Luca Meda in the late 1970s. The curved structure is made from solid teak and stainless-steel, and supports interwoven teak bands, reminiscent of the warp-and-weft pattern found in fabric.
Portlligat range by Kave Home
Available locally at Form, Kave Home’s three-seater faux rattan outdoor sofa forms part of the Portlligat range, which has spaciousness, comfort and design at its core. Combining a classic material with a trendy aesthetic, the Portlligat range, which includes an armchair and coffee table, is a versatile choice for outdoor and indoor spaces.
Reva Cocoon by Pedrali
Boasting a configurable and customisable system of lounge seats, the Reva Cocoon collection by Pedrali, designed by Patrick Jouin, combines comfort and design. The high or low backrests in stainless steel are woven with rope in weather-resistant polypropylene that is made in Italy by local craftsmen. The backrests are defined by a double curvature around the frame in extruded aluminium, at the ends of which stand four tapered legs in die-cast aluminium. The soft and waterproof cushions complete the element of comfort.
Elodie by Potocco Spa
The Elodie two-seater sofa, designed by Chiara Andreatti for Italian brand Potocco Spa, has an exposed structure in embossed anthracite, white or metal tubing. It is designed to accommodate oversized cushions, padded in fire retardant polyurethane foam. It is available locally at Camilleriparismode.
Marina by True Design
The Marina collection by Italian brand True Design features a colourful choice of chairs with a metal rod frame coated with epoxy powder and galvanised for outdoor use. Two versions are available, with wire mesh or rods, both of which are compact, light and stackable, and available in a range of vibrant colours.
