The latest project to be unveiled within the ever-evolving grounds of the Malta International Airport is a new VIP terminal aimed at enhancing the airport’s offering of a premium experience for discerning travellers.
The new building, revealed during an official ceremony last week features five luxurious suites, each with its own terrace, that can accommodate up to 34 guests simultaneously. The refurbishment is the result of a €4.5 million investment.
“The space is a true celebration of Maltese talent and sustainability, blending curated local art with eco-conscious design elements, including reconstituted limestone from other projects on our own airport grounds,” MIA shared.
“Guests can expect personalised service, natural light-filled lounges, and seasonal, locally sourced dishes prepared by a dedicated chef on-site.”
The limestone façade of the VIP Terminal is shielded by tall palm and dense Ficus trees, creating a sense of privacy from the outset that continues inside, where “sophistication and comfort define the VIP Terminal’s suites.”
Each suite has its own distinct character adorned with art pieces by renowned Maltese artists, including Emvin Cremona and Esprit Barthet.
“Beyond aesthetics, our suites are designed to cater to guests’ needs, easily transforming into spaces where one can focus or simply relax.”
Alan Borg, CEO of Malta International Airport, noted how the VIP terminal inauguration “was about more than unveiling a new building.”
“With its premium offering and carefully curated aesthetic to give a sense of place, the VIP Terminal reflects Malta International Airport’s commitment to ensuring that the company invests in sustainable projects – contributing to a quality tourism product and aligning with the government’s vision for our industry,” he shares.
“Now that the VIP Terminal has opened its doors, we’re confident that the people delivering the service will shape experiences that complement the space we’ve created, allowing our guests to get the best first and last impressions of our islands.”
