The Archetypal Self – Tomoko Fait

Beyond the Visible – The Metaphysical Worlds of Olaug Vethal
An exhibition on display at Spazju Kreattiv, in collaboration with Christine X Art Gallery, celebrates the life and artistic legacy of Olaug Vethal, the Norwegian-born artist who made Malta her home and inspired generations of students through her teaching and practice. The exhibition, curated by Christine Xuereb, reflects on the artist’s enduring fascination with the metaphysical dimensions of existence, expressed through symbolic imagery, intuitive forms, and contemplative explorations of nature, spirit, and human consciousness. 4 September-25 October.
Edward Caruana Dingli (1876-1950) – Celebrating 150 Years Since His Birth
MUŻA is hosting an exhibition on one of Malta’s most influential artists, Edward Caruana Dingli (1876–1950), marking 150 years since the artist’s birth. The display brings together a curated selection of his works from the National Collection, spanning from his celebrated portraits of politicians, clergy and prominent Maltese families to his folkloristic paintings of village life, feasts and the countryside, including such iconic works as The Lady with the Black Hen and The Boschetto Fair. 3 September-4 October.
Inside Voices: What the Room Holds
Inside Voices presents a participatory art project developed by Duška Malešević and Pep Walls together with young people at Malta’s juvenile detention centre. Through a series of workshops exploring photography, painting, text and mixed media, the body of work, which will be on display at Valletta Contemporary, reflects on identity, memory, vulnerability, resilience and life within a restricted environment, “creating a space for voices and experiences that are rarely heard.” 18 September-17 October.
What Moves Between Us – Collective Exhibition
The latest exhibition currently on display at Axis Art Gallery in Attard brings together 12 artists and their exploration of the relationships and encounters that shape a sense of self and the world around us. Curated by Artistic Director Elyse Tonna, the exhibition presents new and existing works across painting, photography, cyanotype, print, textile and ceramics by Kamy Aquilina, Sarah Bonaci, Maria Borg, Giola Cassar, Martina Darmanin, Yana Fenech, Nina Gerada, Ġulja Holland, Tina Mifsud, Lucia Seifert, Rasha Belle Zammit Cutajar and Jade Zammit. 3 September-15 November
The Ground we Hold – Marlene Gouder
A vivid body of work by artist Marlene Gouder will fill the Palm Court Lounge of The Phoenicia Malta throughout September. In her latest solo exhibition curated by Prof Charlene Vella, ‘The Ground We Hold: Carved in Shadows, Born in Light’ captures the beauty and shifting horizons of the Maltese landscape, charting a physical and emotional journey through the Maltese terrain. 1-30 September.
