Antoine Zammit, who founded his architecture and boutique consultancy firm STUDJURBAN in 2012, has been named a winner of the BIG SEE Awards – a regional awards programme based in Ljubljana, Slovenia that aims “to become the global springboard for a responsible, Bio Intelligent Generation.”
The founding architect and director shared “I’m honoured to be among some of the best current European designers as one of the BIG SEE – opening perspectives 2024 Winners in Architecture, together with my office studjurban!”
BIG SEE began in the early 2000s as a national promoter of Slovenian quality architecture and design, hosting two annual national awards and trade shows, before expanding its activities to south-eastern Europe (SEE)
“Because climate change is not only the challenge of the century, but also an exceptional opportunity for creative industries the world over, we are aiming to expand our activities further as advancing climate change affords no safe zones,” the programme states.
The award ceremony, which takes place as part of the BIG SEE architecture festival on 15th and 16th May in the Slovenian capital, will present the range of winners from architecture firms throughout the region – including Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia and Malta, among others – with their awards.
“The event will dive into the award-winning works, where both award recipients and forward-thinking companies will share their visions and perspectives, fostering discussions that shape the future direction, according to BIG SEE.
STUDJURBAN, which champions quality urban and architectural design in Malta, is driven to achieve this through a professional approach that links policy, research and collaboration to the world of design, “subsequently increasing awareness of place.”
It has successfully headed urban design projects, including most recently the redesign of Mosta Square and been actively involved in the drafting of policy and publications aimed at improving Malta’s urban infrastructure, including its mobility system.
